i dunno dirge -- i have the same bookshelves from ikea that i've had since i was 7 and tey're still going strong! although, i have not moved around a lot, so maybe that has contributed.
you're right though, that desk is built like an effing tank -- everything about it feels solid. maybe it's the lack of particle board (for once!).
